Prof. Vladimir I. Balakshy

V.I.Balakshy graduated in 1968 from the Physics Department of M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University with Highest Distinction. In 1971, after post-graduate education at MSU, he defended his Ph.D. dissertation on the problem "Ultrasonic methods of light scanning". From 1971 to the present time he has been with the Physics Department of MSU, holding various research and teaching positions; currently, he is a professor of the Oscillation Physics Division. Here, in 2000, he got his Doctor of Sciences degree on the problem "Acousto-optic effect and its applications in systems of optical information processing". In 2013 he obtained the title of professor of Moscow State University. His research interests include acousto- and electro-optics, holography, optical information processing and adaptive optics. In this area, he has published over 300 scientific papers in Russia and abroad and has obtained 18 patents. V.I.Balakshy is a co-author of monographs "Physical principles of acousto-optics" (Moscow, Radio i Sviaz, 1985) and "Optical information processing" (Moscow, MSU Publ., 1987).
His research work was awarded by a medal of All-Union Exhibition of Achievements in Science and Engineering (Moscow).
